PASTA SHELLS WITH GROUND BEEF



*Ingredients

+shells
°625 ml (2 1/2 cups) shells
+Ground beef
°Ground beef 450 g (1 lb), semi-lean
+Carrot
°3 carrots, peeled and diced
+Beef broth
°Beef broth 250 ml (1 cup)
°15% cooking cream
°15% cooking cream 125 ml (1/2 cup)
Also provide:
°1, chopped onion
°15 ml (1 tbsp.) cornstarch
+Optional:
°10 ml (2 tsp), minced garlic

*Preparation

In pot of boil salted water, cooking pasta al dente. Drain.
Meanwhile, heat a little olive oil over medium heat in another saucepan. Cook the ground beef, carrots, onion and, if desired, garlic for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon.
Stir in beef broth and cream. Bring to a boil.
Dissolve the cornstarch in 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of cold water. Add to sauce while whisking. Let simmer for 3 to 5 minutes. Salt and pepper.
Add the shells and reheat for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring.
